    wavy video playback

I have tried converting my DVR-MS Files to h.264 using most of the profiles.  default / best quality etc.

WHen I playback the converted file both WMP and vista media center displays a wavy image when there is motion in the video. The wavy edges are only on the objedcts that are moving. This happens on both of the vista pc's. one with a ati x1400 video and the other with an nvidia 8600GT.

How can I determine if this is a conversion problem or a playback problem.?

OK  I have some more information, any output resolution greater than 640 480 has the problem. Doesn't matter what profile I use.

Original source file is from vista MCE dvr-ms files recorded at best quality. Standard Definition TV.

Standard MPEG files at any resoltion play properly. This must be a h.264 decoder issue. Using ffdshow Dec 3 release

    How can this be ?

Ok the problem must be in the conversion becuase I copied the MP4 file created by MCEbuddy and played the file on my blue-ray DVD player sony bdp-s200. I get the same output using the player as I do with my PC's therfore eliminating the codec's and video cards.

Probably.  The new encodes in 1.0.7 use different deinterlacing to address this (and a couple of other) problems.  So 1.0.7 solved this issue for me and a few of the testers involved.  Let me know if it doesn't.

See this thread for more discussion on the topic.

    Cheers
