    Audio Sync Problem

    Hello I am using MCEBuddy and it is great! The only problem that I can see is that after the conversion there is about 2 or 3 seconds sync problem between the audio and the video. The original file is fine but when MCEBuddy converts it there is a delay and the audio is out of sync. I am using WIN XP version 2002 / Service Pack 2 / AMD 64x2 Dual Core  Processor 4200+  2.21 GHZ  with 2 gig ram. I have MCEBuddy 1.0.7

    Any suggestons?

    Is your recording HDTV?  In particular 1080?  If so it's a known bug (see known bugs from the homepage) that we're working on.  If not then I'd be interested in more information n the recording.

    OK if this is happening for non HDTV recordings, can you please post your recording to Rapidshare or something similar?  It sounds like a bug.

    Re: Audio Sync Problem

    Hi, I may have found the problem (or a workaround):: I checked the fps for the converted video-files, it stated: 41,xxxxx fps and it should have been 25 fps (PAL). So i tweaked the mencoder.config with fps=25 and now it encodes perfectly :) http://rapidshare.com/files/89841150/Der_Morgen_bei_n-tv.dvr-ms.html Should it get the source fps of the original video file by itself? Or is its hardcoded to NTSC? Thx for your help!

    Re: Audio Sync Problem

    I am in the US with NTSC and getting the same problem.  No matter what format I choose, the audio is out of sync.  My MCE is recording HD off air.  So the files are huge.  I have heard mentioned serveral places to modify the mencode.config file, but I am having difficulty know exactly where to change.  For example adding ftp=xxx  where would that go?  Or I saw the suggestion to add -async 1 but where do you put it?  Is there some documentation somewhere on editing this file?

    In MCEBuddy 2.0 we're forcing 24fps for almost everything to get the best sync we can. You can add this option in 1.x if you do the following

    Open c:\program files\tyrell\mcebuddy\mencoder\mencoder.conf in notepad

    find the section that matches the encoder you are using.  eg [DivX]

    and add the following line to that section:

    ofps=24000/1001

    Save it and you should be fine.  if you are usnig a 2-pass conversion you need to do it for both sections (2 pass conversions have 2 sections in MCEBuddy 1.x)

    Ok, but I am un the US and NTSC is 30 fps.  What would I put for 30fps ofps=30000/1001 ?

    Re: Audio Sync Problem

    No country actually uses 24fps.  By forcing the fps to something lower than the source you force the audio and video sync in mencoder and it should still work fine for you.  If you set it to 30 fps it might still be ok as well, so you can use ofps=30000/1001.  Either should work fine.
