I found a free decoder that works very well in Windows XP Media Center Edition
2005. It might work in Vista, too. It's DScaler 5.0.0.8 Alpha which
actually works just fine.
I also installed the Windows
XP Video Decoder Checkup Utility to switch over from NVIDIA PureVideo. It
is listed as "DScaler Mpeg2 Video Decoder" with filename "MpegVideo.dll" and
version "0.0.6.0". Don't worry about it claiming not to be MP10 Compatible. It
works perfectly.
I cannot believe how much better things look now. Big
improvement.
Might anyone know of other free decoders available that work
with Windows XP and/or Vista Media Center?
