How to Join the MCEBuddy Beta Program

To join the MCEBuddy program simply create a forum account and ask to join by posting a request in this forum with the following information:

    • Your MCE version (MCE 2005 XP / Vista / Vista 64)
    • Your system specs
    • What conversions you are most interested in (if you know yet, eg. types of shows, format DivX/WMV/H.264)
    • What portable devices you want to convert to (if you have any eg. iPod, Zen Vision, etc.)

Periodically I'll check the forum and allow people in.

Understand that these are BETA releases and will have BUGS, so you might lose your recordings if you don't keep a copy of them.

    Cheers,

    Derek

Re: How to Join the MCEBuddy Beta Program

    Hi Phredeaux,

I'd like to join the beta program to test drive the conversion process. I love the simplicity of the program!

     o I have MCE 2005 XP

o Running on AMD 3000+, 1 GB Mem, ATI 9600, ATI HD Wonder, AverMedia A180

o I'm interested in converting to DivX/Xvid to reduce the storage needs and for archiving

o No portable media devices as of yet

    Thanks a bunch,

    Invai

I'd like to join in as well.

    Vista (x86)

    Athlon x2 4400, 2GB ram

View all media through an XBox 360 extender

Conversion to WMV - I plan on keeping all programming in it's orginal resolution. If the Xbox 360 ever supports H.264 or Xvid then I'll switch to those.

No portable devices at this time.

I'd also like to have a look at the Beta version of MCEBuddy.

I have a Q6600 quad core, 2MB RAM and onboard graphics (X3000) using Vista Ultimate.

I have installed v1.0.5 to convert to DivX and found that while the picture quality is good there are some very obvious issues between the video and audio sync - I've checked the orginal files recorded by MCE and they don't have this problem.

    Cheers,

    Grant

Would like to join - have been manually using Jelwood's mencoder version for Aussie dvr-ms / ac3 compatibility with a one pass constant quality H264 / Mp3 encode and been very impressed.

  • Your MCE version - Vista Home Premium
  • Your system specs - Will have it running from a XP PRO SP2 box (AMD Semperon 64 3000 - 512MB Ram), connected via lan.
  • What conversions you are most interested in - TV Shows like Numbers, Smallville + Children's shows like Bob the Builder.
  • What portable devices you want to convert to - None (but would perhaps try setting up for a Sansa E260)
  •

    - Thanks, Graham

You're on the beta.  Welcome aboard!  If your audio sync issues are with H.264, BETA6 should resolve this for you.  Don't forget to post what you find, or if everything worked well.
