MCEBuddy

For the most part most of the shows that I am going to compress are shows that I have recorded for my children. The shows that I like to watch I would rather have left alone. What about an option that would allow a show listing to be left alone while all others are compressed, etc.?

Hi Schmitty:

 I too would like to be able to control which shows get transcoded and which don't.  What is VMC, Vista Media Center?  If so, it's not intuitive to me how Vista would solve this.

Hey Jeff, I hate to say this but I "thought" that I had it figured out; however, it is not the best method there is. Currently what I have done is setup my children's recordings to cycle their shows on a five show rotation. During that time MCE Buddy does its thing. My own shows are also backed up, but they are also left on the VMC for when I want to watch in in an uncompressed state. What I would like to see is an actual plugin developed for VMC. As a part of the "series record" options I could make MCE Buddy do things differently for different shows. Cheers - Larry

Yup, it's part of the MCEBuddy 2.0/2.1 spec, based upon "show metadata".  The Media Player plugin will depend on how good the new Media Center 2008 SDK is and how long it takes me to work a good WTV->MPEG extraction process.
